Registered Nurse Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
Implements care to high risk.
Establishes medical diagnoses. Orders and evaluates diagnostic studies. Utilizes sound clinical decision-making in performing and monitoring therapeutic procedures, including, but not limited to:
Prescribes and regulates medications, fluids, nutritional flow rate and caloric balances. Documents management of care in the patients medical record. Conducts daily rounds on assigned patients with Neonatologists and nursing staff. Communicates with parents of high risk neonates by updating their knowledge and promoting their participation in the care of their infant.
Experience:
At least two years experience within a Neonatal Intensive Care setting; Level III NICU experience desirable.
Education/Licensure Required:
Masters Degree in Nursing required.
Successful completion of an approved Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program.
Certification as Neonatal Care Nurse Practitioner RN, NNP.
Current RN and APRN licensure required in Nebraska or Iowa, Nebraska and Iowa are Compact states, so license must he held in state of residence.
NRP Certification (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Job requires continuous use of reading skills and verbal communication skills. Job requires frequent use of written communications skills. Job requires delegation, conflict resolution, individual and group interactions, time management, critical thinking and stress management. Incumbents must possess knowledge of how to provide care to a diverse population of patients and the ability to communicate and work with people from a variety of age groups, social strata and ethnic backgrounds.
