SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF WORK
- Intense casework responsibilities begin at this level. Educational requirements are very specific. Decision making skills and problem solving capabilities are critical. Highly developed interpersonal skills and case management capabilities must be present.
PREFERRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors Degree with criminal justice or human service concentration
- equivalent of 2 years full-time experience involving direct contact with juveniles and their families, preferably delinquency cases
- Valid drivers license/ acceptable driving record
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Supervises juveniles ordered into Tracker Services by the Office of Juvenile Services of Nebraska and reports progress and activities of juvenile to referring agency. Assists in the collection of data for program evaluation. Maintains telephone and personal contacts (both scheduled and unannounced) with the juvenile to ensure conditions of tracker supervision are being met.
- Cultivates and maintains effective relationships with individuals significant to juvenile: parents, friends, employers, siblings and other close relatives. Maintains line of communication and effective working relationship with all agencies/schools involved.
- Reinforces and supports parents’ efforts to gain control and improve supervision of youth’s behavior through feedback and guidance to youth and family. Tracker should be knowledgeable of effective parenting skills. Serves as an advocate/mentor for the youth by making referrals to programs and resources and participating in recreation activities. Knowledge of community resources is essential.
- Provides crisis intervention immediately with the outcome of reducing the incidence of crises which requires intervention and possible detention. Available 7 days a week at varying hours to meet needs of juveniles and their families.
- Responsible for Electronic Monitoring per the assigned schedule and program policy or making arrangements with another substitute followed by a confirmation email copied to the Program Director.
- Responsible for Drug Testing/Screening per the assigned schedule and program policy or making arrangements with another substitute followed by a confirmation email copied to the Program Director.
- Required to strictly follow Heartland Family Service vehicle guidelines and requirements as well as all specific program vehicle guidelines and requirements. This is applicable to both agency owned and personal vehicles.
- Required to strictly comply with all protocols and requirements as delineated in both internal and external documentation."
- Is dependable and punctual regarding scheduling and attendance.
- Provides transportation for juvenile and/or juvenile’s family to therapy or other appointments related to preventing a court order to the state training school or group care placement.
- Displays a courteous and caring attitude at all times to the clientele, volunteers, and visitors of the Agency.
- Cooperates and collaborates with agency and collateral staff.
- Abides by all specific program and Agency procedures, policies, and requirements.
- Develops personal and program related skills through participation in internal and external training opportunities including printed material and audio and/or visual media.
- Performs other program related duties as assigned.
