The PayPal Merchant Technical Services Engineer (MTSE) will be responsible for providing support for the PayPal Developer Central (DC), the PayPal Subscription Password Management Process, PayPal Payment Data Transfer (PDT and IPN) and PayPal Application Program Interface (API). Additionally, the MTSE will serve as a knowledgeable resource to provide short-term and long term technical solutions for developers and end users. The MTSE will work with PayPal's Large Business Unit, Small and Medium Business Unit, Omaha and San Jose Marketing, Product Management, Content Writer, Engineer teams and assist with integrations of PayPal's payment processing services. This role will require direct interface with clients and provide guidance and direction in all phases of integration of PayPal's services. MTS is responsible for providing technical design and code level support to PayPal members. The MTSE plays an important role in enabling program members to create applications that contribute to increased transaction volume on the PayPal site. MTS also provides important feedback to internal product groups that produce tools and features used by developers. The MTSE will be competent in understanding web-based applications. They will have strong communication and customer interaction skills. They will also be accomplished at problem solving and moving between varied tasks.
Provide direct technical support to PayPal merchants integrating PayPal products into their websites. (40 percent) 1.Installation and setup of Payment interface and APIs for PayPal merchants. Work with developers and merchant on integration of PayPal to websites.
2.Provide technical consulting on best practices and tools available to integrate PayPal product.
3.Provide troubleshooting and support to PayPal merchants integrating the PayPal product. Run test scenarios and QA testing for customer integrations.
4.Troubleshoot installation issues and ensure a smooth and prompt implementation experience for customers. Provides direct technical support to integrated PayPal PayPal merchants. (30 percent) 5.Identify and troubleshoot merchant technical issues with PayPal merchant tools.
6.Communicate fix or workaround for issue to merchant. Work with current MTS tools in order to communicate issues to PayPal merchants and to other PayPal departments. Identifies, verifies and documents irregularities in PayPal API functionality, including posting appropriate bugs. Manage bug process when appropriate (i.e., Discover, log, and, follow up on bugs and communicate when fixed). (10 percent) 7.Generates and reviews in-depth technical information (Sample code, white papers, FAQs, Snippets) for distribution to PayPal merchants.
8.Create a standard process for API integration, along with required support materials, guides, and collateral.
9.Create and run demos of PayPal eCommerce functionality and sample integrations Monitors PayPal developer message boards to produce summaries of technical issues and post appropriate responses. (5 percent) May give presentations on development to audiences of varying sizes. (3 percent) Monitors code rollouts for issues effecting developers and/or the developer test environment (Sandbox). (2 percent) Participates in the development of tools, systems and processes aimed at improving product supportability or overall support productivity. Qualifications:
Education
BS, BSEE, CS or other relevant technical degree required.
2+ years professional related experience or Master's degree and 1+ years.
Experience
1.Strong written and verbal communication skills 2.Minimum of 1 yr experience with high-availability web applications required.
3.Advanced Understanding of web technologies, development languages and environments, including XML and 1 or more of the following required: C/C++, C#, Perl, Java, VB, .Net 4.Understanding with relational databases and minimum 1 yr SQL skills required.
