Providing superior health care to the underserved, low income uninsured and homeless in the Omaha Metro Area is the goal of the Hope Medical Outreach Coalition. Hope is a non-profit organization that relies on area health care systems, hospitals, community health centers, physicians, physician assistants, pharmacists, dentists, dental hygienists, clinicians, nurses, nurse practitioners and other healthcare provides who donate their time to treat those in need. Patients are seen at community health centers and clinics as well as private offices, helping those who otherwise go without care.
Hope also relies on federal, state, and private grant awards, individual donations along with volunteerism to coordinate patient services. Hope operates in partnership with the Metro Omaha Medical Society and in coordination with the Omaha District Dental Society.
Physicians most often see patients with upper respiratory and ear infections, rashes, skeletal and muscle pain, asthma, diabetes, stomach and intestinal problems and provide acute and episodic care. Specialists provide care for more complicated needs. Dental professionals address acute dental problems. Volunteer healthcare providers and community health clinics also refer patients of Hope if they need care beyond what is offered in the clinics.
Annually Hope:
- Cares for more than 4,000 patients in area clinics
- Coordinates more than 1,000 referrals to specialists
- Facilitates more than 100 surgeries
- Obtains over a million dollars in donated health care, procedures and medications annually
- Cares for more than 250 dental patients
- Fills or supports more than 5,000 prescriptions
- Answers more than 3,000 patient advocacy calls
The mission of Hope Medical Outreach Coalition is to contribute to the health of the greater Omaha Metropolitan Area through coordination and delivery of donated medical, and dental care and of pharmacy services to the underserved.
