Youth Care & Beyond is a private, non-profit agency that provides a continuum of care for developmentally disabled youth and adults. Our mission is to provide these special young people with the skills they need to be independent, successful members of the community. We have been providing this unique service in Omaha for over 20 years.

Many of our residents have a diagnosis of mental retardation. Along with mental illnesses, many have been abused and neglected. They come to live at Youth Care & Beyond to find a safe home, to heal from the abuse and neglect and to learn social and independent living skills.

A key aspect of our program is our use of principles from the National Teaching Family Model. Youth Care & Beyond was one of the first in the country to employ this approach with developmentally disabled youth. In this model, Parent Teachers, use affirmative teaching methods and Individual Program Plans to help individuals learn and grow. New skills and positive behaviors are encouraged by praising, modeling appropriate behavior, supplying rationales, role playing and continual feedback.

Our mission is to provide them with the tools they need to become independent, productive members of the community. Youth Care & Beyond residents are continually encouraged to pursue their goals, live to their fullest potential and realize their dreams. The specialized training program and family-oriented environment of Youth Care & Beyond set it apart as a premier residential care provider for developmentally disabled youth and adults.
