Position Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Under the direction of the Director of the Community Mental Health Center (CMHC), or designee, the incumbent will be responsible for the development and on-going provision of peer support services within the Community Mental Health Center.  Provides guidance and consultation to CMHC staff.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED.  Peer Support Specialist Certification (or ability to complete certification process) required.  Wellness Recovery Action Plan Certification preferred.  PLUS   a.  Must be a current or past consumer of mental health or co-occurring behavioral health services; b.  2 to 3 years success within personal recovery model; c.  Ability to utilize individual and group skills; d.  Strong knowledge of local community behavioral health services.  Successful completion of a pre-employment local and national criminal records check, including fingerprinting.  Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical exam as required.  Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and own mode of transportation at the time of hire and throughout the course of employment.
