NAP Vision Statement
As the leader in statewide efforts and a global partner in this endeavor, the staff and volunteers of Nebraska AIDS Project are committed to the following:
We believe in a world without HIV and we are committed to creating that reality: one step at a time, one person at a time
We believe in the power of community to fight the spread of HIV and serve those living with HIV and AIDS, dispelling the myths and stigma surrounding HIV disease and building a supportive community for all affected by HIV and AIDS through empowerment, support and collaboration.
We believe in serving all people affected by HIV disease, and we are committed to making a difference in as many lives as possible; meeting people where they are and as they are. We do not judge and we do not criticize. We serve.
History
Nebraska AIDS Project was organized in 1984 when medical professionals, Catholic nuns, Health Department officials, concerned citizens, friends, family members and lovers joined together for one cause—fighting AIDS. Organized to provide compassionate support to those dying with AIDS and to provide education to prevent the further spread of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, Nebraska AIDS Project remains true to that mission: prevention and support. One of the few statewide AIDS service Organizations in the country, Nebraska AIDS Project is the only community based AIDS service organization in Nebraska.
