The Tie Yard of Omaha (TYO) began operation in 1983 as a supplier of used railroad ties and landscape materials in the Omaha, Nebraska market area. By early 1984, TYO was already engaged in its first abandonment removal, successfully completing the removal of six miles of unused railroad track near Oakland, Iowa.

Today, Tie Yard AVERAGES over six miles of abandoned track removal every week, on projects from coast to coast! Add to that our capabilities in on-track removal of rail, ties and OTM behind Railroad change-out gangs, as well as expertise in track appraisal, short-line operation and finance, bridge and building demolition, and specialty construction projects, and you have one of the leading Railroad Service companies in the United States today.

Throughout our history of unparalleled growth, TYO has always focused on one clear objective - to become the best at what we do. Even though "what we do" changes almost daily, our commitment to excellence and efficiency remains rock solid. To that end we are constantly striving to refine and perfect new techniques and processes that will enable us to do a job more efficiently, at a lower cost to our Railroad client. We believe in the concept of quality people, quality equipment and quality effort to get the job done, and employ the service equivalent of "just-in-time" delivery to get your project completed at the lowest cost possible!
