The American Red Cross touches millions of people every year. Whether it’s offering disaster and emergency relief, teaching lifesaving skills such as CPR and first aid, or collecting and distributing half the nation’s blood supply.

TOGETHER WE PREPARE.

As a volunteer, you may be providing these services directly to the American public or supporting those who do - both roles help further the mission of the Red Cross.

The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, that provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. It does this through services that are consistent with its congressional charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Volunteers provide aid to fire victims, energy assistance and pantries to those in need. In addition, volunteers teach first aid, CPR/AED, baby-sitting and many more valuable classes. Last but not least, volunteers provide critical support for maintaining a sufficient blood supply for our area (serving donors at blood drives and distributing blood products in the city and throughout Nebraska and Iowa).

The Heartland Chapter supports the X File program sponsored by the Omaha Chamber of Commerce. The Red Cross also offers non-paid internship programs for students or individuals who want to gain valuable work experience in a specialized field. We offer various internship programs from Accounting to Wellness.
