Position Description

Primary job responsibility will be to assist the mechanical engineers with preliminary designs and detailed design packages for plant modifications and additions as well as troubleshooting reliability and failures of existing equipment.  Assignments can involve material handling equipment, rotating equipment, piping and vessels. Project development work requires familiarity with PC-based tools, including AutoCAD and the Microsoft Office Suite.  Much of the work consists of creating and modifying mechanical drawings using AutoCAD release 2006.

Reimbursement for cooperative education course tuition and fees up to 4 credit hours.

Relocation:
Mileage for relocation at a rate of $.24/mile.
Payment for rental of trailer or truck, for movement of household goods, up to a maximum of $500.
Reimbursement for meals while enroute.
Temporary lodging up to a maximum of 5 days to locate living quarters.

Payment of deposits and expenses for connecting utilities. This amount must be refunded at the conclusion of the Cooperative Education term.

Necessary qualifications:

Requires familiarity with PC based tools including Microsoft Office Suite. This position requires completion of a minimum of two years in a Mechanical Engineering curriculum.

Typical Mental/Physical Requirements:

Requires frequent sitting and use of computer/keyboard, occasional standing, walking, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, reaching above and below shoulder level, crawling, pushing and pulling up to 75 pounds, use of tools and foot controls and turning of valves. Requires good finger dexterity, ability to perform close work, good hearing and color vision and the ability to speak. Requires the ability to analyze data, conduct research, implement recommendations, develop plans and goals, present information to others and work under pressure of time constraints. Over 50 percent of the day is spent in an office environment. Exposed occasionally to dirt, dust, chemicals, extreme heat and cold, vibration, noise, poor ventilation, electrical risks, confined areas and working at heights up to 150 feet.
