WHO WE ARE:
In 1939, the beginning of a long tradition of healthcare coverage was created in Nebraska. A group of medical professionals, business leaders, and others came together to create an organization that today serves nearly 717,000 people.
Since the 1930’s, the concept of healthcare coverage has changed, but the commitment to service has not. The people of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska work daily to put the needs of the customer first. The organization is a mutual insurance company, led by a CEO based in Omaha, and guided by a Board of Directors from all parts of the state. As such, we make our business decisions based on what is best for our members, employees and the Nebraska communities we serve.
We have developed a statewide network of providers which includes all non-governmental, acute care hospitals and 94% of Nebraska doctors. We offer a variety of coverage plans for large employer groups, small businesses, and individuals.
In 2007, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska became the first insurance company in the state to earn the rare Platinum Well Workplace designation. The company is also a strong community partner and supports a wide variety of community events, both financially and through the volunteerism of its employees.
