ANY WAY YOU LOOK AT IT, WE’RE UNIQUE!
-
As Nebraska’s oldest community, Bellevue is truly the
birthplace of the Good Life!
-
Many of our students have traveled around the country--and
the world!--
as part of their parents’ careers in the military. They
bring a wide
variety of life experiences to our classrooms.
-
We are neighbors of Offutt Air Force Base and the United
States
Strategic Command.
BELLEVUE IS A CITY WITH A POPULATION OF OVER 42,000.
-
Bellevue’s north boundary is Omaha, our east boundary is the
mighty
Missouri River and our south boundary is Offutt Air Force
Base.
-
Bellevue’s elementary and secondary schools employ 700
professional
educators in the teaching of 9,200 students.
COMMUNITY IS IMPORTANT IN BELLEVUE.
-
Bellevue’s patrons have never turned down a bond issue for
school
construction.
-
Citizens serve on school advisory committees and in a
dynamic OTA and
PTSA.
-
Bellevue Schools are involved in a partnership with our
local senior
citizen center.
-
The schools are involved in the community, and the community
cares
about its schools.
THE SELECTION PROCESS
Your application is considered for available positions after
it is
complete with transcripts and three letters of reference. A
printed
resume is encouraged but not required. Once vacancies occur,
your
application is considered in the areas of preference you
have indicated.
Applicants whose qualifications best match qualifications of
the
available position are selected by a selection team for a
personal
interview.
If selected for a personal interview, you are contacted by
the personnel
department and an interview is arranged at the Bellevue
Public Schools
central office. You are interviewed by approximately three
people and
asked a series of questions designed to compare your
philosophy with
that of Bellevue Public Schools and to elicit your personal
and
professional strengths. If you are recommended for
employment, you are
contacted by the Director of Personnel and offered a
contract. Contracts
are then placed on the agenda of the Board of Education for
approval.
Secondary finalists and finalists in special areas are
notified after
employment is confirmed with the chosen candidate.
Elementary classroom
finalists are notified at the conclusion of the hiring season (August)
because positions are filled as
enrollment is determined; elementary enrollment is not confirmed until
immediately prior to the opening of school. Finalists offered contracts
from other districts are advised of the status with Bellevue Public
Schools upon request.
In most cases, staff members are hired as vacancies are identified
February through August. In August, those candidates not hired are
contacted and informed that their application remains active for one
year from the date of application.
The Bellevue Public Schools does not discriminate on the basis of race,
color, national origin, gender, marital status, disability, or age in
admission or access to, or treatment of employment, in its programs and
activities. Dr. Sharra Smith, Director of Personnel, has been
designated to handle inquiries regarding complaints, grievance
procedures or the application of these policies of nondiscrimination.
