SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Director of Technology is responsible for leading the organization’s IT strategy, operations, and budget, ensuring the organization’s technical infrastructure meets the agency’s current and future needs, leading a high performing team of technical staff, determining business requirements for IT systems, planning, and managing IT projects, developing IT policy and practices, and mitigating IT security and disaster recovery risks.

Compensation: between $69,000 and $87,671 per year (salary is determined by total years of relevant experience)
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week

PREFERRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, information systems, computer science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seven years of progressive experience working in IT operations to include experience supervising IT teams and projects and collaborating with organizational leadership.
  • Business leadership or management coursework, training, or experience is preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare or human service settings is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license/acceptable driving record.

CRITICAL SKILLS

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills in both business and technical settings and with all levels of management and staff.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer systems, information security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage, telecommunications systems, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Highly skilled in project management with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Aptitude for organizational thinking.
  • Flexible and positive attitude.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures smooth delivery and operation of IT services across the organization.
  • Cultivates a strong IT team by recruiting, training, coaching, and developing employees, supporting knowledge sharing and growth, and assessing and addressing performance.
  • Partners with colleagues across the organization to identify business and technology needs, optimize the use of technology, and enhance user satisfaction.
  • Establishes and executes short- and long-term goals for IT operations and ongoing technology enhancement.
  • Develops and manages organizational IT policies and procedures in collaboration with agency leadership.
  • Oversees and determines timeframes for major IT projects including system updates, upgrades, migrations, and outages.
  • Organizes IT equipment management, replacement, and update schedules.
  • Fosters a customer-centric culture within the team that balances responsiveness and operational priorities.
  • Engages in continuous improvement efforts based in operational metrics to ensure a high standard of service delivery.
  • Ensures that the helpdesk provides timely, accurate, and consistent customer service.
  • Serves as the organization’s HIPAA Security Officer to protect client health information, other sensitive data, and critical systems from security threats.
  • Ensures reasonable business continuity, regular backup, and effective recovery of data and systems in the event of a disaster, security incident, or other emergency.
  • Develops, monitors, and manages the department’s budget to support annual and long-term planning, optimize value, and control costs.
  • Establishes and maintains productive working relationships with external partners and vendors, and manages value-add, cost-efficient contracts.
  • Remains up to date on IT trends and emerging technologies as it relates to the organization’s work.
  • Actively participates on the agency’s Leadership Team.
  • Displays a courteous and caring attitude at all times to clientele, volunteers, and visitors of the agency.
  • Cooperates and collaborates with program area staff, volunteers, and other agency staff as an organizational team member.
  • Is dependable and punctual regarding scheduling and attendance.
  • Abides by all specific program and agency procedures, policies, and requirements.
  • Develops personal and program related skills through participation in internal and external training opportunities including printed material and audio and/or visual media.
  • Creates, maintains, and shares as appropriate a dynamic self-care plan.
  • Strives to make connections between the agency and the larger community whenever possible in order to contribute to the agency’s ongoing fundraising and friend-raising efforts.
  • Essential functions of this job are to be performed on company physical work site.
  • Performs other program related duties as assigned.
