Dedicated to allowing a previous Boys Town Youth the opportunity to learn, grow, and work as part of the Boys Town community. Learns skills while on the job to prepare for future growth outside of Boys Town.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Work-study position that allows the front desk attendant to study or do homework while sitting at the front desk between participant arrivals.

  • Responds in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner to arriving and departing visitors and phone inquiries.

  • Maintains security awareness and monitors visitor access.

  • Maintains building security while providing administrative and reception support.

  • Greets visitors, determines nature of visit, and contacts appropriate staff member to alert them of arrival.

  • Performs general administrative and clerical duties including answering phones and answering the door.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Develops effective work skills to perform functions of Front Desk Attendant-Successful Futures position to include communication, critical thinking and problem solving, professionalism, attendance and dependability, teamwork, and technical skills.

  • Develops a high level of professionalism and customer service skills, administrative and organizational skills.

  • Ability to promote and maintain good public relations and to treat visitors and staff with courtesy.

  • Learns the ability to assess situations and respond appropriately.

  • Develops the ability to effectively communicate in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality.

  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and multi-task while maintaining quality standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Participation in the Boys Town Successful Futures Program required.
