Boys Town is seeking a skilled and motivated Systems Administrator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for implementation, integration and support of infrastructure software platforms. We are looking for a proactive individual with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems.

  • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements.

  • Perform server administration tasks (ex: user/group, security permissions, group policies, print services); research event-log warnings and errors; and monitor resources to ensure that systems architecture components work together seamlessly.

  • Researches and recommends new approaches to improve the networked computer system.

  • Researches upcoming products, service protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.

  • Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Leads process improvements and modifications.

  • Upgrades systems with new releases and models.

  • Maintains internal documentation through a knowledge base.

  • Provides documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure.

  • Develops expertise to train staff on new technologies.

  • Generates reports on a regular and as-needed basis.

  • Works with vendors and business units as needed to provide support.

  • Troubleshoots issues and outages.

  • Assists the Service Desk and other teams with troubleshooting to identify root cause and provide technical support when needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Solid understanding of IT principles and concepts

  • Experience configuring and maintaining a variety of modern desktop and server operating systems.

  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.

  • Ability to create scripts in Python, PowerShell, or other modern languages.

  • Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels in the organization and with external contacts in an articulate, professional, clear, and non-technical manner.

  • Excellent dedication to customer service, project follow through, and the ability to adjust to changing requirements, schedules, and priorities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in computer science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience required.

  • Experience with modern monitoring and logging tools required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimum exposure to physical risks. Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.
