Grounds Lead

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Grounds Lead to oversee and coordinate daily activities of the grounds department, ensuring effective maintenance and upkeep of hospital campus grounds, parking areas, and sidewalks throughout all seasons. This position requires strong leadership to manage a team, monitor productivity, and ensure a safe environment for all staff, patients, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in grounds maintenance, excellent communication skills, and the ability to supervise staff and manage resources efficiently. Previous experience with landscaping, snow removal, and grounds equipment is preferred.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have a minimum of five years of experience in grounds maintenance and submit an updated resume along with their application.

Location: Nebraska Medical Center | Nebraska Medicine Omaha, NE

Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday

  • 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM

  • Winter Season (On-Call): Availability 24/7 during snow events is required

Duties: Grounds Lead

Oversee grounds technicians to provide primary grounds maintenance and upkeep in all seasons for all hospital campus grounds and parking areas in a manner that ensures a safe environment for all customers.

Required Qualifications: Grounds Lead

  • High school education, or equivalent, required.

  • Minimum of five years experience in grounds maintenance required.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet expectations required.

  • Possess extensive knowledge of grounds maintenance and operations.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, visitors and management required.

  • Basic email and databases skills required.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

Preferred Qualifications: Grounds Lead

  • Background in landscaping preferred.

  • Demonstrated supervisory and employee development skills preferred.

  • Ability to use various grounds equipment such as front end loader, snow plow, bobcat loader, trucks preferred.

  • Previous experience with lawn services and arbor care to include demonstrated training in snow removal operations preferred.

  • Knowledge of lawn irrigation systems and basic repairs techniques of these systems preferred.

  • Knowledge of basic auto repair and/or ability to work sheet metal preferred.
