Start your health care career while you're still in high school!

Are you a high school junior or senior looking for hands-on experience in health care? The NextGen Careers in Health Care program offers a unique opportunity to:

  • Get paid while gaining real-world experience in a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) role.

  • Work shifts that fit around your school schedule (shift availability may vary by department).

  • Earn academic credit through work-based learning.

  • Receive mentorship and support from health care professionals.

  • Build a strong foundation for future career and education opportunities.

Through this program, you'll develop essential skills, make valuable connections, and may even qualify for scholarships or certification sponsorships through Clarkson College.

Who can apply?

  • High school juniors and seniors

  • At least 16 years old

  • Enrolled in a participating Omaha Public Schools high school

A partnership between Nebraska Medicine, Clarkson College, and Omaha Public Schools.

Perform delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel for the achievement of patient`s plan of care.

Required Qualifications:

* Minimum of 16 years of age required.

* Possesses a Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska required.

* Demonstrated effective communication skills required.

* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).

Preferred Qualifications:

* Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred.

* Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
