This position provides protection system design and control/monitoring/automation application engineering to District's distribution system. Support operation of distribution system as well as interface with customer owned energy source facilities to ensure adequate and reliable system and operation.
1. Provide design application engineering and operational support engineering for distribution system protection to ensure the adequate, reliable operation, and availability of the District's distribution facilities, and of customer owned energy source facilities.
2. Review protection devices operations and analyze system outages and disturbances to ensure continuous and reliable system performance. Resolve operational control problems on the District's distribution, and customer owned energy source facilities caused by short circuits or other disturbances.
3. Provide protection and control engineering for distributed energy resource interconnections to District's distribution system.
4. Support creation of a new or fully updated computer model of the distribution system.
5. Keep abreast of the latest technological advances to ensure that protection and control systems meet the District's needs.
Required:
* Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
* Two years of engineering experience related to substation or distribution systems.
* Co-op or internship experience (s) may count
* Master's degree may be considered for up to two years of experience
* Valid driver's license.
Desired:
* Experience using Synergi or equivalent software.
* Experience in distribution system protection and automation.
* Understanding of ANSI, IEEE, NERC, NESC, or other Standards and Guidelines as applicable to distribution protection and automation.
* Effective communication skills (written and verbal) with co-workers, vendors, and customers (internal and external).
* Self-starting and multi-tasking abilities.
* Ownership and accountability to provide timely, accurate results and openness to improvement and change.
* Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
* Successfully completed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, or registration as a Professional Electrical Engineer in the State of Nebraska or ability to obtain Nebraska registration within 6 months through reciprocity.

Midpoint: $110,682
