Machine Operator

Physicians Mutual is hiring for a full time Machine Operator in our Mail Processing Center. The selected candidate will ensure our policyowners receive mailings that are in good condition and presented in an organized fashion. Processes mail according to quality standards and established guidelines.

$16.00/hourly + experience 

Job Responsibilities:

• Performs a variety of tasks to maximize production and efficiency of the Mail Processing Center.
• Operates various pieces of machinery (inserters, MBO Folders, staple machines, GBR folders) in order to produce, assemble and distribute different mailings.
• Exercises precautions to ensure the safety of self and others while facilitating the production process to ensure deadlines are met.
• Operates various machines to maintain production, as required.

Job Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in a mail processing or manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Ability to score a minimum of 70% on Attention to Detail pre-employment tests and achieve average Proficiency Score (or better) on the SRA Reading and Math Indexes.
• Ability to work under pressure of mail dates, machine pacing, and productivity standards.
• Basic math skills to complete production balancing.
• Strong ability to distinguish between a number of highly similar forms.
• Ability to concentrate and remain mentally alert while performing routine tasks for 3-4 hours.
• Physical ability to remain standing for long periods of time while operating machines and lifting heavy boxes up to 60 lbs.
• Ability to manually make relatively fine adjustments for effective machine operation.
• Effective human relations skills to complete job duties using cooperation and teamwork.
• Ability to learn and follow all safety guidelines and regulations.
• Strong attention to and ability to follow safety procedures.
