Summary of Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for properly and safely cleaning the facility as established in the cleaning schedule and procedures, for maintaining high quality of cleaning, and for ensuring that all the cleaning at Streck properties is performed according to Standard Operating Procedures. This position may be required to, either by direction and/or independently, communicate with co-workers or vendors/contractors to execute specific routine or occasional tasks. Responsible for performing other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

 

Essential Duties and Functions:

  1. Work closely with Facilities Manager to maintain consistent, high quality cleaning, to solve problems when they arise, and to anticipate and actively address related issues that may develop.
  2. Clean facility to include: Removing and replacing plastic liners from trash reciprocals, and take trash to outside storage bin. Mopping floors with dust mop. Mopping floors and warehouse with wet mop using appropriate disinfectant. Dusting all woodwork, office furniture, e.g. desks, chairs, tables, file cabinets, etc., counter tops and shelves. Vacuuming floors and carpets with vacuum cleaner. Sweeping warehouse areas with broom. Cleaning all sinks with approved disinfectants. Cleaning all rest rooms with approved cleaners. Buffing floors with appropriate cleaning equipment. Collecting trash and address specific landscape maintenance around the exterior areas of the facilities.
  3. Report all information pertinent to cleaning procedures, equipment, cleaning solutions, or problems to department management.
  4. Maintain an adequate inventory level of cleaning supplies, submitting order through the company’s current requisition process.
  5. Advise management when cleaning supplies need to be reordered and/or order cleaning supplies if requested by supervisor.
  6. Maintain cleaning equipment in good working order. Provide input when orders are placed for new cleaning equipment.
  7. Assist in insuring that all cleaning takes place according to Standard Operating Procedures to maintain organization and compliance.
  8. Set-up special meeting and event items (e.g. chairs, tables, trash containers, etc.) per directions from, and discussions with, the supervisor or the event organizer.
  9. Assist in or oversee the collection and exchange of company uniforms, mops, and other supplies, if required.
  10. Assist in the mail / delivery operations required of the maintenance department, as may be needed.
  11. Execute preventive maintenance assignments, including the completion of the current work order procedures.
  12. Assist in enforcing compliance with all departmental and company safety procedures and regulations.
  13. Performing all other duties as assigned.

 

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred; not required.
  • One to two years’ experience cleaning commercial facilities preferred.
  • Must be dependable, well organized, and be able to communicate effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and follow instructions and to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to assign work as a lead person, to train others, make reports as requested.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with co-workers and supervisor.

 

Technical Competencies:

  • Knowledge of and ability to operate various housekeeping machines and equipment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use all cleaning chemicals in a proper and safe manner.
  • Ability to visually measure and mix cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to visually inspect work to ensure cleanliness.
  • Ability to read, understand and comply with all safety procedures, and company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and the Employee-Right-To-Know Program.
  • Ability to wear required laboratory clean room clothing (shoe covers) and other safety/protective equipment (mask and/or face shield, rubber gloves) for extended periods of time.

 

Work Environment/Travel Demands:

The work environment is a climate-controlled biological/chemical laboratory. Occasional short durations to cold temperatures inside walk-in coolers. Ability to wear required laboratory clean room clothing (laboratory coats, hair bonnets, and beard covers (as applicable) and other safety/protective equipment (masks, gloves, and/or face shields for example) for up to two and a half hours consecutively. Travel demands for this position are estimated up to 0%. If travel is required, this travel may include customer visits, events/trade shows, and completion of presentations primarily throughout Domestic US or International regions.

 

Physical and Mental Demands:

Medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. This also includes standing for up to two and a half hours consecutively, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, stooping, fingering, and grasping. Expressing and receiving detailed information through written and oral communication. Also has an ability to make sound, appropriate, and prompt decisions within the guidelines of the role.
