Position Summary | The Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation (MMI) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) is accepting applications for a Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist at open faculty rank (Rank DOQ). This position will provide outpatient comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment to individuals with autism spectrum disorder, other intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as neurotypical individuals at Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation. The psychiatrist will help individuals manage their mental health conditions and improve their overall well-being. Practice Responsibilities:Conducts thorough psychiatric assessments to diagnose mental health conditions.Formulates personalized treatment plans based on assessment findings and clinical judgment and modifies them as needed to meet changing patient needs.Conducts evidence-based therapeutic interventions and regular follow-up appointments to assess patient progress.Prescribes and manages psychotropic medications as appropriate.Monitors medication efficacy and side effects, making adjustments as needed.Educates patients and caregivers about their medications, potential side effects, risks and benefits.Collaborate with therapists and psychologists to offer comprehensive care.Provides crisis intervention and emergency consultations as needed.Coordinates higher levels of care when necessary.Maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with healthcare and MMI regulations.Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care.Consults with other healthcare providers and specialists as needed for co-occurring medical conditions.Stays current with developments in the field of psychiatry by participating in continuing education, attending conferences, and reading research literature.Engages in education, research, or other scholarly activity as a member of an academic medical center. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.Knowledge of psychiatric principles, child and adolescent development, individual and group therapy, and behavior modification techniques.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Empathy and a family-centered approach to care.Willingness to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
