About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chair for its Community and Regional Planning Department. The successful candidate will provide dynamic and innovative leadership to sustain excellence in teaching, research, and outreach activities. This role involves vision and coordination in planning and implementing an agenda of excellence, as well as leadership in recruiting and fostering academic growth and diversity. The Chair will be responsible for the administration of the department's faculty, staff, students, curricula, and financial resources, and will work to promote the department's visibility and marketing. A key aspect of the position is the commitment to interdisciplinary and inter-departmental collaboration, as well as a strong focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion in higher education. Applicants for the Chair position must have a PhD in planning or a related field, or a terminal professional master's degree in planning with academic experience. A minimum of full professor or advanced associate professor rank, academic administrative experience, and knowledge in the subfield of physical planning, design, land use, or the built environment are required. The ideal candidate will have a scholarly record that aligns with the department's interests, expertise in physical planning and design, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The role also requires experience in student recruitment, fundraising, and building relationships with diverse communities. The Chair will be expected to actively teach in the department and strengthen support structures for faculty, particularly junior faculty.
