About the Role

The Company is seeking an Executive Director of Innovation to lead and oversee all innovation-related initiatives that have a significant impact on faculty, staff, students, and the growth of small and medium-sized businesses in the area. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing the innovation center and hub, designing and leading workshops, and managing innovation-related grant and donor activities. This role requires a highly motivated individual with a graduate degree in a business, education, or leadership-related field, at least 5 years' experience in teaching, training, or other learning delivery activities, and a background in the ownership, operation, and growth of small-to-medium-sized businesses. Familiarity with innovation theory and practice, coaching experience, and a strong understanding of how entrepreneurship and innovation contribute to the local economy are essential. Applicants for the Executive Director of Innovation position at the company should be self-starters with the ability to work collaboratively, analyze and solve problems, and communicate effectively. The role also involves mentoring and managing professional staff, graduate assistants, and interns, as well as coordinating with an advisory council. A design-thinking and innovation mindset, knowledge of social media strategies, and experience with innovation methodologies are highly valued. The position is full-time and requires a daily on-location presence at the Downtown Innovation Hub, with frequent travel to the Charleston campus. The Executive Director will be expected to work closely with the President of the University and other units to recommend and support innovation initiatives.
