Firewall Network Engineer

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Firewall Network Engineer with strong expertise in Palo Alto Firewalls and Cisco Routing and Switching. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining network security infrastructures while ensuring optimal network performance and security across the organization. This role requires a professional with hands-on experience in network security, a deep understanding of firewall configurations, and routing & switching technologies. The position is hybrid, with 2 days per week onsite in Andover, MA.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain Palo Alto firewall configurations, ensuring security policies are properly implemented and optimized.
• Design, deploy, and troubleshoot Cisco Routing and Switching infrastructure.
• Monitor, analyze, and optimize firewall and network performance to ensure availability and security of systems.
• Collaborate with IT teams to develop, test, and implement firewall rules, network designs, and security measures.
• Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data by maintaining strong network security practices.
• Provide support for incident resolution, including identifying and addressing potential vulnerabilities or breaches.
• Work closely with stakeholders to assess network and security needs and implement solutions to meet business requirements.
• Stay current with the latest firewall and networking technologies, particularly with Palo Alto and Cisco products, and recommend improvements as necessary.
• Document network and firewall configurations, changes, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and compliance purposes.

Qualifications:

• Required:
  • Proven experience working with Palo Alto Firewalls, including configuration, management, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong background in Cisco Routing and Switching technologies (e.g., Cisco IOS, SD-WAN, etc.).
  • Experience in network security best practices and protocols (VPN, IPSec, SSL, etc.).
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex networking issues and provide clear solutions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
• Preferred:
  • PCSNE (Palo Alto Networks Certified Security Engineer) certification or similar.
  • CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) or higher networking certifications.
  • Experience with other security technologies (IDS/IPS, SIEM, etc.) is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with network automation and scripting is a bonus.
